Instagram Carousel Splitter
Turn one wide image into a carousel that swipes like a single panorama. Pick the slide shape, choose how many slides, and download every slide at full resolution: 1080x1350, 1080x1080, 1080x1440 or 1080x1920 for TikTok.
How to use it
- 1Choose the slide shape
4:5 (1080x1350) is the standard portrait size. 3:4 (1080x1440) is the tallest shape Instagram keeps uncropped, square works too, and 9:16 is for TikTok photo mode.
- 2Drop one wide image
A panorama, a wide design or a long collage. The tool suggests how many slides fit its width.
- 3Set the number of slides
Drag the slider from 2 to 20. The preview marks every cut so you can keep faces and text away from the seams.
- 4Download and post in order
Each slide downloads as a JPEG numbered in order. Add them to a carousel in that order and they swipe as one continuous image.
Tips for a seamless carousel
- Keep faces, products and words away from the dashed cut lines. Something split across two slides only reads when both are on screen.
- Put the strongest part of the image on slide one. The first slide is all most people see in the feed.
- Lead the eye to the right: a line, a road or a gaze pointing off the edge gets the swipe.
- Checking a finished set before you post? Run it through the slideshow checker.
Questions
What size should Instagram carousel slides be?
1080x1350 (4:5) is the standard portrait size. Instagram's Help Center says photos keep their resolution between 320 and 1080 pixels wide when the shape is between 1.91:1 and 3:4, so 1080x1440 (3:4) is the tallest size that is not cropped and 1080x1080 works too (as of October 2026).
How many slides can an Instagram carousel have?
Up to 20 photos and videos per post, according to Instagram's Help Center as of October 2026. That is why the slider stops at 20.
Why do all slides have to be the same shape?
Instagram applies the orientation you pick (square, portrait or landscape) to every photo in the post. A split made here is one shape throughout, so nothing gets cropped differently and the seams line up.
How big should my original image be?
At least the slide width times the number of slides. For three 4:5 slides that is 3240x1350 pixels. Smaller images still work, but the slides are enlarged and look soft; the tool warns you when that happens.
Can I use it for a TikTok slideshow?
Yes. Pick 9:16 to get 1080x1920 slides. TikTok photo posts take up to 35 photos, though a panorama split across TikTok slides reads less naturally than on Instagram because the slides fill the whole screen.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is cut by your browser and never sent to a server.
